Golf rangefinder vs GPS watch
By VyKure · October 2026
Both help you club correctly. They work differently, and the right choice depends on how you play.
How a rangefinder works
A laser rangefinder measures the distance to whatever you aim at: the flag, a bunker edge or a tree. It needs no course maps, so it works on any course.
How a GPS watch works
A GPS watch uses stored course data to show distances to the front, middle and back of the green. It is hands-free, but it depends on the course being mapped and cannot measure to a specific target.
Which should you choose?
Choose a rangefinder if you want a precise distance to the pin or hazards on any course. Choose a watch if you value convenience and course data. Many golfers use both.
Where VyKure fits
The VyKure rangefinder adds flag lock, slope on/off and a magnetic strip, with a range of 3 to 1200 yards.
